For many years we are charmed by skills and creativity of Krkonoše Christmas cribs makers. This exhibition will focus on diferent types of cribs scenes enriched by some extraordinars types. This selection is completed by decsription of typical habits during the celebration of Christmas and even a little of the traditional cuisine.

Christmas, the most popular holidays of today, are made up of elements of different ages, each time gave them their distinct color. Their roots tend to pre-Christian feast of the winter solstice. In Europe, even in those continents where it was transferred to European culture, it is one of the most beautiful feasts of the year. Czech Christmas is an important part of this tradition and have its own distinctive look. A number of other specific habits are also characterized for Christmas in Krkonoše mountains.

Christmas cribs has importanst place in interior. Building cribs in our country starts by church nativity scenes. The oldest folk crib is from the second half of the 18th century.

The exhibition is organized in cooperation with Krkonoše Museum in Jilemnice and Krkonoše Museum in Vrchlabí.
